As an Iraq War Veteran, I understand first hand the sacrifice that comes with defending our freedom. They say that life has a flavor that the protected may never know. Our men and women in uniform have stood and continue to stand toe-to-toe with those that threaten that very flavor of life, our way of life. They have sacrificed and endured the perils of war so that our citizens can continue to live in peace. I believe that more has to be done to ensure that we honor our promise to take care of our warriors when they return home, and ensure that they have the resources and care they need to transition back to civilian life. If we can not afford to take care of our servicemen and women when they return home from war, then we shouldn’t put them in harm’s way in the first place.
